Road Construction
Gravel Road Maintenance
The City of St. Francis maintains 10.5 miles of gravel roads. During the spring thaw, it is important not to grade the roads too early because the roads will become soft. The roads are monitored and graded as needed. Traffic and moisture are a couple factors that contribute to deterioration of the roads. During late spring and early summer months, dust control is applied to the high traffic volume roads. The liquid product that is used—magnesium or calcium chloride—help attract moisture and create a binding action to ensure the strength of the road while reducing the dust created by drivers.
Anoka County Road Projects
As to be expected, county roads are the responsibility of Anoka County Highway Department. All roadway concerns and maintenance are handled by the County. The most commonly used county roads located in St. Francis are Bridge St., Ambassador Blvd., Rum River Blvd., and 237th Ave.
