Notice of Neighborhood Seal Coating
Location – See attached map the highlighted areas are where the seal coating will be performed.
Schedule – Work is scheduled to start July 10th weather permitting for crack filling and July 17th weather permitting for sealcoating. We anticipate the seal coating application to take approximately 2 days to complete. Approximately 2 weeks later the excess rock will be swept off the street.
No Parking – The contractor will be placing no parking signs on the roadways near your property. We request that you do not park on the streets in front of your property until the signs are removed.
No Boulevard Watering – While the no parking signs are up there should be no boulevard watering to prevent water getting on the street. Water on the roadway results in delays as the pavement surface must be dry prior to the application of the seal coat materials.
Process – The streets will first be swept to remove debris. Then the street will be coated with asphalt emulsion material. After the emulsion is applied, rock will be placed over the emulsion and will be rolled to embed it into the emulsion material. After about 2 weeks the excess rock will be swept up.
Safety – Do not drive through the emulsion before the rock is applied this could result in damage to your vehicle. Also, during this process there will be loose rock on roadways which will result in reduced traction of vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
Why Seal Coat – Seal coating protects the roadways from the deteriorating effects of the environment. The seal coat helps extend the useful life of the pavement by providing a waterproof membrane to slow down the reduction of oils in the asphalt and keeps moisture out of the street.
